Adventurous versatility meets luxury interior comforts and cutting-edge technology in the 2025 Ford Explorer.

Two Reliably Powerful Engines

Among its four trim levels (Active, Platinum, ST, and ST-Line) this edition offers two powerful engines. The base engine is a 2.3-liter I-4 that generates 300 horsepower thanks to an integrated turbocharger, perfect for tackling most challenges. Taking output up a notch, the other engine is a 3.0-liter V6 with 400 horses. Both engines have Auto Start/Stop technology to help conserve fuel, and towing maxes out at an impressive 5,000 pounds.

Versatility in Different Scenarios

Intelligent Four-Wheel Drive is available to tackle snow, wet roads, and off-road trails with ease. Also enhancing versatility is the Selectable Drive Modes feature, which comes standard and lets you switch between Eco, Tow/Haul, Sport, and other modes on the fly for different scenarios. The ST trim comes with a sport-tuned suspension for improved handling at higher speeds and around curves.

First-Class Interior Amenities

Seating up to eight passengers, this vehicle’s cabin is both spacious and comfortable and comes with a split-folding 50/50 third-row seat to accommodate cargo. The second row comes with either captain’s seats with E-Z Entry and armrests or a 35/30/35 split-folding seat, and while the front seats offer available heating and ventilation functions, the rear seats also have optional heating. To accommodate different temperature preferences, tri-zone climate control comes standard, as does rear auxiliary control.

A Stylish and Tough Design

Outside the vehicle, you can enhance ruggedness by opting for front and rear skid plate elements, as well as LED fog lamps, and while the standard heated side mirrors will be appreciated in colder weather, the available rain-sensitive wipers provide plenty of convenience as well. A power liftgate comes standard, which can be opened from a distance using your key fob, and every model also comes with roof-rack side rails to accommodate cargo boxes, bicycle racks, and other cargo-hauling accessories.

Advanced Tech and Safety

This vehicle’s infotainment system, Ford Digital Experience, is one of many advanced tech features this SUV comes with, as it allows you to make hands-free calls, access apps and music wirelessly from smartphones, and perform many other functions on a 13.2-inch color touchscreen. A 12.3-inch instrument cluster can be found behind the wheel, a wireless charging pad is available for personal devices, and standard driver-assist highlights include Pre-Collision Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, the Rear View Camera, and the Lane-Keeping System.
